DÍA DEL FLAMENCO

Desde el año 2011 se celebra el Día Internacional del Flamenco, fecha que busca recordar el día exacto en que la UNESCO, reconoció a la cultura andaluza como patrimonio de la humanidad.

En el colegio se lleva trabajando el Flamenco toda la semana, y hoy 19 hemos culminado con una actuación de María Gómez la Canastera, Niño Carmelo a la guitarra y Graci al baile.

MAPFRE FOUNDATION WITH THE COLLABORATION OF THE LOCAL POLICE OF ALMUÑÉCAR OFFERED A DAY OF ROAD EDUCATION TO THE SCHOOLS OF THE LOCALITY. STUDENTS FROM THIRD TO THE SIXTH COURSE FROM CEIP SAN MIGUEL ENJOYED AND LEARNED WITH THE ACTIVITY, WITH GREAT PROFESSIONALS.

Europe Day

9 May every year: Celebrating the creation of the European Union.

Europe Day commemorates 9 May 1950, when the then French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman presented his proposal on the creation of an organised Europe, to help maintain peaceful relations between European countries. This proposal, known as the 'Schuman declaration', is considered to be the act that created what is now the European Union.

Each year's Europe Day has a different theme. Check on the European Commission website to find out more about the theme for 2015. You could use Europe Day at school to explore the theme in more depth, or find out more about the European Union.

A BILINGUAL ACTIVITY WITH THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

In the second term we have carried out a bilingual activity with the  High School Students Al Andalus.

Both of them, old and young students enjoyed the activity together.

EASTER

These are the Easter eggs that our students have made to celebrate Easter.
Easter eggs, also called Paschal eggs, are decorated eggs that are often given to celebrate Easter or springtime. As such, Easter eggs are common during the season of Eastertide (Easter season). Today, Christmas is a time for family and friends to get together and exchange gifts.

HALLOWEEN

El nombre de Halloween proviene de "All hallows eve", la víspera de todos las almas o de todos los santos y tiene su origen en la cultura Celta, hace 2500 años. Su historia es muy curiosa e interesante.

En el colegio se suceden estos días los preparativos y el estudio de esta celebración anglosajona. Pronto los pasillos se decorarán con numerosas pumpkins, spiders, skeletons,...hasta llegar a la recogida de caramelos del viernes 31.

Halloween traditions

• It's celebrated on October 31st. When the Celts lived in Ireland, Britain and France over 2,000 years ago, they had a pagan agricultural festival on this day. They believed that the dead came back, so they used to light large bonfires to ward off evil spirits. Irish, Scots and other immigrants brought this tradition to North America in the 19th century.
• The word "Halloween" is a shortened form of "All Hallows' Eve", meaning the evening before "All Hallows' Day" or "All Saints' Day", which is November 1st.
  
• In the past, poor people went around asking for food in exchange of a prayer for the dead. Nowadays, this tradition was changed. In Ireland and the United States, children dress up and go door-to-door collecting candy. This is called "trick or treat", meaning that if they don't receive candy they will make a trick or a spell.
• The carved pumpkin has become the symbol of Halloween. It's called "Jack-o-lantern", from an Irish legend about a man called Jack. He was a lazy farmer, who tricked the devil and refused to free him unless he agreed to never let Jack go into hell. So, Jack started to wander the Earth looking for a resting place, carrying a carved turnip with a candle inside.
